• The printing press is a device that allows for the mass production of printed matter, mainly text in the form of books, pamphlets and newspapers.
• Earlier documents or material were written by hand through experts or individuals called calligraphists. The old manual process was time consuming and lengthy. When the printing press arrived the speed of work improved.
• As printing spread, newspapers were published and issues were debated in public. The leaders and reformers were able to spread their ideas easily. Poets and novelists could also write and express their feelings and sentiments, which now could reach a larger audience.
