iodine is solid whereas bromine is liquid at room temperature. Explain why.

Because of heavier mass and more imtermolecular forces of attraction between atoms of iodine, it is solid. Bromine is lighter than iodine and also have lesser intermolecular forces of attraction between its atoms, thus it is a liquid.
