I2+10HNO32HIO3+10NO2+4H2O
The product Y is HIO3
The oxidation state of Y from HIO3 can be found as -
As the hydrogen = +1
And one Oxygen atom = -2
Thus, three oxygen atoms = -6
And for I be it's ‘x’.
So, the oxidation state can be found as
