Solution

Iodized salt is required for synthesis of hormone triiodothyroxine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). These hormones are synthesized in the thyroid gland. Cells of thyroid glands are the only cells that can absorb iodine from the iodized salt. This iodine is then combined with the amino acid tyrosine and T3 and T4 hormones are synthesized.
