iron displaces copper from aqueous copper sulphate solution but not by silver. Give reason.

Solution

Dear student,

Iron is more reactive than copper and lies above copper in the reactivity series. So, it can displace copper from copper sulphate solution. But silver can not displace copper from copper sulphate solution since it lies below copper in the reactivity series.

Thus, Iron can displace copper from copper sulphate solution but silver cannot displace copper from copper sulphate solution.

Regards.
