Question

Is 5 A of current passes through a fuse of 5A rating. Will it melt or not?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student
The rated current of fuse is nothing but the current at which the fuse melts and circuit breaks. As the current flow in the circuit is (5 A) is equal to the rated current of fuse, i.e. not exceeds to 5A. Therefore the fuse will not melt and the circuit can't break and all devices work as usual.
It will melt if the current exceeds 5A.
