Solution

Compound:

  • A compound is always made up of the same kind of elements combined in a fixed ratio.
  • For example, water (H2O) is made up of the two elements oxygen and hydrogen.
  • Chemically they combined in a fixed ratio of two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen
  • A compound is always homogeneous, that is all samples of a compound are the same in composition and have the same properties throughout.
  • For example, the properties of a drop of water are the same as the properties of a glass of water.
