Question

Is a morula stage before blastocyst?

Open in App
Solution

Morula:

  1. Morula is a very early stage of an embryo and is made up of only 16 cells known as blastomeres.
  2. The Morula stage takes place before the formation of the blastula.
  3. The Morula occurs 3 - 4 days after the fertilization of the egg by the sperm.

Blastocyst:

  1. A blastocyst forms during the second stage of an embryo and is made up of hundreds of cells.
  2. It takes place from days five to nine after fertilization.
  3. Blastocysts develop after the morula phase.

So, the morula stage comes before the blastocyst stage.
