Crystallization is used to purify solids. The process requires a suitable solvent. A suitable solvent is one which readily dissolves the solid when the solvent is hot. After allowing the mixture to cool down, the large amount of soluble solid crystallizes out along with some amount of less soluble solid. Filter the crystals and redissolve them in a minimum amount of warm solvent, recrystallise and concentrate the filtrate.
