A solution with pH 6 will be acidic when the ionic product of water is 1×10−14mole2/litre2. In such a case, a solution with pH less than 7 is acidic in nature. On increasing the temperature, the ionic product of water increases due to increase in the ionization of water. When the ionic product of water increases to 1×10−12mole2/litre2, a solution with pH 6 will be neutral and below 6 will be acidic in nature.
