  1. Lipids are organic compounds that are insoluble in water.
  2. Lipids are made by the esterification of alcohol and fatty acid.

Steroid:

  1. Steroids are called derived lipids. These are also hydrocarbons.
  2. All steroids have a common polycyclic hydrocarbon called sterane.
  3. With sterane different long fatty acid chains are linked and form different types of steroids.
  4. Steroids are found in animals and also in plants.
  5. Cholesterol and testosterone are the main steroids found in animals.
