Cyanobacteria, also called blue-green algae, are prokaryotes capable of performing photosynthesis. They are unicellular, but survive in colonies or as filaments. They could be aquatic or terrestrial. They have pigments similar to those present in plants but not exactly the same. Nostoc and Anabaena are examples of cyanobacteria.
