Question

Is amylose reducing sugar or non reducing sugar?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,Reducing sugars are the sugars which have free OH group. Amylose is a linear poly-D-glucose in which the monosaccharides are connected by alpha 1, 4 linkages. One end of the amylose has free OH group so it is known as reducing end. So amylose is a reducing sugar. Thanks and regards
