Solution

Fucus is a brown alga (Phaeophyceae) that produces morphologically distinct male and female gametes. The fusion of such gametes is called oogamy. It is a form of anisogamy (heterogamy) in which the female gamete (e.g. egg cell) is significantly larger than the male gamete and is non-motile, while the male gametes are typically highly motile.
