Is anodizing only applicable on aluminium or also on copper?

Anodizing is the process of developing an oxide layer over the metal, generally aluminium. Aluminium oxide is passive in nature and inhibits oxidation. The copper oxide, on the other hand, is not so effective in inhibiting reaction with oxygen. So, anodizing is generally for aluminium.
