Question
Is B2 ( di-boron) a paramagnetic or diamagnetic species ? But if we consider the electronic configuration, the ninth electron would enter the pi- 2px and pi-2py , orbitals, then why we say that it is diamagnetic ?

Can we have magnetic hysteresis in paramagnetic or diamagnetic substances?
Q.
Assertion :
N

is diamagnetic in solid or liquid state but paramagnetic in gaseous state. Reason:
N
O
contains one unpaired electron.
Q.
Assertion :The atoms or ions possessing unpaired electrons are paramagnetic in nature whereas those possessing electron pairs are diamagnetic in nature. Reason: In diamagnetic substances, the spins of the two electrons cancel out and thus the diamagnetic substances doesnot show any magnetic behaviour . However in paramagnetic substances, the spin of the electron counts and the resultant magnetic moment is not zero.
