Open in App
Solution

Gymnosperm:

  1. Flowers are not produced by these plants therefore the seeds are not enclosed in a fruit.
  2. They produce leaves that look like needles.
  3. They form reproductive structures in the form of cones.
  4. The xylem does not have vessels, while the phloem also lacks companion cells and sieve tubes.
  5. Examples include Cycas, Pinus, etc.

Angiosperm:

  1. Flowers develop on all plants at some point during their lives.
  2. Vessels and companion cells are present in the vascular system.
  3. The ovules are encased in the ovary hence the seeds are enclosed in a fruit.
  4. The endosperm is produced after fertilization.
  5. Examples include mango, rice, wheat, etc.

Bamboo:

  1. It is a plant that has stems known as culms.
  2. The internodes are hollow.
  3. The leaves are long lanceolate and have parallel venation.
  4. They produce tiny flowers arranged in compound inflorescence.
  5. The seeds are produced and they die.
  6. Therefore bamboo belongs to angiosperms (monocots).
