Open in App
Solution

Reflex action:

  1. Reflex arc: A brain circuit that manages a reflex is called a reflex arc.
  2. In vertebrates, the majority of sensory neurons synapse in the spinal cord rather than passing directly into the brain.
  3. By turning on spinal motor neurons, quicker reflex responses can be triggered without having to wait for signals to travel to the brain.
  4. It is an involuntary action of the eyes also called corneal reflex. Hence it is a reflex action.
  5. The cornea is stimulated when it is contacted by a foreign body.
  6. The involuntary response is believed to be a survival-related function to protect the eyes from stimuli.
  7. The blinking of the eye is stimulated by touch, bright light, loud sounds, and other peripheral stimuli.
