Question

Is boiling an endothermic or a exothermic process?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Boiling is a physical process that requires heat energy to convert the liquid state of matter to gaseous state. In order to change the state, heating(specific heat of vaporisation) is done due to which temperature increases and when the barrier of latent heat of vaporisation is broken(at a constant temperature for a short duration) , change of state occurs.
Thus boiling is definitely an endothermic process.

Regards.
