Carbon monoxide is harmful to human beings because when it comes in contact with the blood it forms a stable compound with hemoglobin. Thereby reducing the hemoglobin count in the blood and causing a threat to life. But in chemical processes CO (carbon monoxide) is very useful.
Carbon monoxide is an important industrial gas, which is widely used as a fuel. It is also an important reducing agent in the chemical industry.
