Solution

Polygenic inheritance:

  1. Human skin is a polygenic trait that is governed by two or more genes.
  2. Polygenic or quantitative inheritance refers to the inheritance of polygenic traits.
  3. In humans, polygenic inheritance can be seen in height, skin color, eye color, and weight.

Skin color:

  1. The darkest skin color indicates the presence of three dominant alleles (AABBCC).
  2. Therefore dark skin is a dominant character.

Three genes A, B and C control skin colour in human with the dominant forms A, B and C responsible for dark skin colour and the recessive forms a, b and c for light skin colour. The genotype with all the dominant alleles will have the darkest skin colour and that with all the recessive alleles will have the lightest skin colour.

On the basis of above paragraph, answer the given question.
