Solution

DNA:

  1. DNA is the abbreviated term for deoxyribonucleic acid which is a polymer formed of nucleotide monomers.
  2. Nuclear DNA is the DNA that is found in the nucleus of each eukaryotic organism's cell.
  3. In a prokaryotic cell the DNA is present in the small region of cytoplasm known as the nucleoid.
  4. Additionally, mitochondria and plastid also contain their DNA.
  5. DNA facilitates the transmission of parental traits from one generation to the next.
  6. Through the process of protein synthesis, DNA regulates the metabolic processes of the cell.
  7. Mutation occurs when there is a mistake in the DNA replication process.

Chromosomes:

  1. It is the condensed chromatin fibers with histone and non-histone proteins.
  2. They are visible during cell division with the use of special dyes.
  3. DNA along with histone proteins condense to form chromosomes.
  4. Therefore chromosomes have DNA.
