Question

Is eye colour a co-dominant trait?

Open in App
Solution

Eye color:

  1. Eye color is an example of incomplete dominance.
  2. According to this law of dominance, hybrid offspring will only inherit dominant traits in phenotype. Such alleles which are suppressed are called the recessive traits while alleles that determine the trait are known as dominant traits.
  3. When the progeny shows traits of both the patterns it is said as co-dominance which occurs due to the blending of genes whereas when the progeny turns out to be different from both the parents is said to be incomplete dominance.
