Gibberellic acid:

  1. It is a hormone that is naturally found in plants and fungi in large amounts. Nowadays, it is also produced in industries.
  2. It is used in fertilizers because it helps in root growth, inducing mitotic division in leaves and in increasing seed germination rate.
  3. It is supposed to be harmless to humans. But, in recent research on lab rats there was decrement in sperm count and fertility rates over prolonged exposure.
