Question

Is it necessary that if net force on an object is zero then the object will remain at rest, or it can be in motion also?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

According to Newton's first law of motion
if an object is not pushed or pulled upon, its velocity will naturally remain constant.
That is if there is no force acting on object then it will remain to move with same velocity.

So if net force is on an body is zero it doesn't't mean that body will be in rest. It can be in motion without zero acceleration that is constant velocity.
