Question

Is it possible for the blood to clot under the skin? Give a reason to support your answer.

Open in App
Solution

Yes, it can. Normally the blood doesn't clot inside our body as a chemical called heparin, an anticoagulant is present in our blood to prevent any clotting. But when the blood flow is stopped or hindered due to the presence of fat depositions in the vessels due to atherosclerosis, the blood might clot inside the body itself. These abnormal clotting can result in stroke, or rupturing of the blood vessels or internal haemorrhaging
