Is it possible to determine a material is edible or not by using pH? How?

Not perfectly but you can get a rough idea for example if the pH is too low near about 1 like HCL you will come to know that it is not at all edible at it as it will harm your skin while if it is too high about 14 like NaOH you will come to know that it will corrode your body
