1: Introduction to meiosis
The type of cell division as a result of which the daughter cells formed carry half the number of chromosomes compared to the parent cell is known as meiosis. It is also referred to as a reductional division.

2: Meiosis in the life cycle of haploid organism
Haploid organisms don’t undergo meiosis except in the zygote stage. The zygote, being diploid, undergoes meiosis to give rise to the haploid thallus/ body.
