Question

Is it true that metals are not monoatomic?

Open in App
Solution

No metal is monoatomic. Atoms of metal are combined with each other by metallic bond in a huge network.
They are represented as monoatomic atom because the actual number of combined atoms depends on size of the piece of metal under consideration. Hence, for simplicity, they are written empirically.
