Question

Is KCL an acid or a base?

Open in App
Solution

The ions of KCl derive from a strong acid (HCl) and a strong base (KOH). Therefore, neither ion will affect the acidity of the solution, so KCl is a neutral salt and it is neither acidic nor basic.

In pH scale
if pH less than 7 than solution will be acidic
if pH equal to 7 than solution will be neutral
if pH greater than 7 than solution will be basic

KCL has pH value 7 so it is neutral

KCl is a salt in nature which shows that it has a cation of strong base and anion of strong acid and they both have no effect on the pH paper and it is has a standard value which shows that its pH is 7.0 which is a neutral figure.
