Determine if matrix multiplication is associative

Let us consider three matrices A,B,C and check the associative property of matrix.

Let, A=abcd, B=efgh , C=ijkl

The associative property states that: (A.B).C=A.(B.C)

Checking for LHS:

(A.B).Cabcd×efgh×ijklae+bgaf+bhce+dgcf+dhijkl(ae+bg)i+(af+bh)k(ae+bg)j+af+bhlce+dgi+cf+dhkce+dgj+cf+dhleia+fja+gib+hkbeja+fla+gjb+hlbeic+fjc+gid+hkdejc+flc+gjd+hld

Checking for RHS:

A.(B.C)abcd×efgh×ijklabcd×ei+fjej+flgi+hkgj+hl(ei+fj)a+(gi+hk)b(ej+fl)a+gj+hlbei+fjc+gi+hkdej+flc+gj+hldeia+fja+gib+hkbeja+fla+gjb+hlbeic+fjc+gid+hkdejc+flc+gjd+hld

Hence, LHS=RHS has been proved.

Therefore, we can conclude that matrix multiplication is associative.
