Question

Is matter around us pure?

Open in App
Solution

  • A pure substance is something that is composed of a single element and has no any impurities.
  • Matter around us that we commonly observe are air, water, soil, etc.
  • Air is composed of many gases like Nitrogen(N), Oxygen(O), Carbon dioxide(CO2) etc. So we can say that air is not a pure matter.
  • Water is a combination of two elements Hydrogen (H), and Oxygen(O). So it is also not pure.

So, we can say that matter around us is not pure.
