Question

Does NH3 contain a hydrogen bond?

Open in App
Solution

  1. The bond is formed between hydrogenH and the three most electronegative atoms such as fluorine, oxygen, and nitrogen(F,O,N).
  2. A molecule of ammonia can give and receive up to three hydrogen bonds. Ammonia molecules joined together by hydrogen bonds makeup ammonia clusters.

Hence, NH3consist of three covalent bonds. Ammonia can participate in hydrogen bonding but does not have a hydrogen bond.
