Question

Is nuclear energy a non-conventional or conventional source of energy?

Open in App
Solution

Nuclear Energy:

  1. Nuclear energy is the form of energy that comes from splitting up a big nucleus into multiple smaller nuclei and in turn, releasing a huge amount of energy.
  2. This energy is then harnessed to create electrical energy.
  3. The nucleus is split by bombarding them with high-velocity particles.
  4. Since this process can also lead to an infinite production of energy, like the atom bombs, they also need to be controlled with the help of several cooling techniques.
  5. Now, this is pretty evident that such advanced technology was not available in the early days.

Hence, nuclear energy is a non-conventional source of energy.
