Dioecious and Monoecious:
- Male and female gametes are produced on separate plants in dioecious plants. Dioecious plants are those that develop distinct plants for male and female flowers.
- Depending on whether or not they have bisexual flowers, plants are classified as monoecious or dioecious.
- Pinus reproduces through sporophytic generation and is a monoecious plant.
- Despite the fact that the microsporophyll (male) and megasporophyll (female) are generated on the same plant, they are found in separate cones or strobilli.
- The male and female cones are called staminate strobilus and carpellate strobilus, respectively.
