Question

Is pre mRNA the same as hnRNA?

Open in App
Solution

Majority of hnRNAs are pre mRNAs .Newly synthesised mRNAs are often made up of two types of segments ,exons and introns. The exon segments are joined together to produce a mature mRNA that encodes a protein.

So pre mRNA is synthesised from a DNA template in the cell nucleus by transcription.Pre mRNAs comprises the bulk of heterogeneous RNAs(hRNAs).The Pre mRNAs are the first transcript from a protein coding gene. They contain both introns and exons. On removing introns, we get the final mRNAs. So hRNAs and pre mRNAs are the same.
