  1. A polymer is a large molecule composed of several smaller molecules known as monomers.
  2. A homopolymer is one in which all of the monomers are the same.
  3. Starch, for example, is a homopolymer since it is comprised entirely of glucose molecules.
  4. The polymer is heteropolymer if the monomers are not similar.
  5. Proteins are heteropolymers because they are made up of upto 20 distinct amino acids.
