Solution
Biofertilizer:
Biofertilizer contains living microorganisms.
It colonizes the rhizosphere of the plant and increases the availability of nutrients to the plant.
They add nutrients through the process of nitrogen fixation, and phosphorous solubilizing and enhance plant growth by growth-promoting substances.
Unlike synthetic fertilizers, they do not cause any harm to the soil.
Rhizobium
:
Rhizobium
is a gram-negative motile rod-shaped proteobacterium.
They remain in symbiotic association with leguminous plants and help in nitrogen fixation.
They fix the nitrogen in the soil in easily usable forms that can be utilized by the plants.
Therefore they are used as biofertilizers for plants.
