Hotness or coldness is a relative term so it cannot be determined by a sense of touch. Our sense of touch about hotness or coldness is not always reliable but sometimes reliable. We feel the temperature of our own skin, not the actual hotness or coldness of the particular object. Temperature is a reliable measure of the degree of hotness or coldness of a body. To measure temperature a device called thermometer is used.
