  1. Hydrocarbon: The chemical compound comprised of hydrogen and carbon is known as a hydrocarbon. Examples- Methane(CH4), Ethane(C2H6), etc.
  2. Sugar: Sugar(C12H22O11) is also known as sucrose which is a carbohydrate.
  3. Carbohydrate: The polyhydroxy aldehyde or ketones that make up carbohydrates Example: Glucose(C6H12O6), maltose(C12H22O11), etc.
  4. The chemical formula of sucrose is (C12H22O11).
  5. As in the sucrose formula, there are hydrogen and carbon, so it is clear that sugar is a hydrocarbon.

Hence, sugar is a hydrocarbon.
