  1. The inflorescence is defined as the arrangement of flowers on the floral axis.
  2. It is categorized on the basis of the arrangement of flowers on the main axis and by the timing of its flowering.
  3. It can be of two types - racemose and cymose.

Sunflower:

  1. In sunflower, the individual flowers are arranged in such a way that it looks like a normal flower.
  2. Hence, the sunflower is an inflorescence, with a large head called a capitulum.
  3. The capitulum may have ray flowers, disk flowers, or both.
  4. A sunflower may bear one or several terminal capitula with bright yellow ray florets outside and yellow or maroon disc florets inside.
