Area of each box is $1sqcm$

Then area of square will be calculated by taking sum of areas of 9 boxes :

$9\times 1=9sqcm$

Now area of triangle

base : $6cm$

height : $3cm$

Area :

$(3\times 6)÷2=9cm$

Hence the area of the square is equal to the area of rectangle
