Is the dry cell actually dry? If not, why is it called so?

1. Dry cells are not dry because they contain electrolytes in the form of paste or gel with enough moisture.
2. The moisture present is enough for the flow of current in the cell.
3. This also prevents the spilling of electrolytes making them portable and compact.

Hence, it is called a dry cell.
