I have walked this path before.

In the above sentence, "have walked" is the present perfect form of the infinitive "to walk". In this case, the tense tells us that the action (walking on the very path the subject is presently on) occurred at an indefinite time in the past. Consider another sentence:

He has grown impatient over the last hour.

"Has grown" is the present perfect form of the infinitive "to grow". It tells us that the subject started becoming impatient at some point in the past and has remained impatient till the present.
