Solution

'Genotype' is the genetic makeup of an individual or a variety.
It is the alleles of the genes that determine the phenotype of an individual. There are three types of genotype, one containing dominant alleles, one containing recessive alleles and one containing dominant and recessive alleles. For example, genotype of seed color of pea plant includes YY (yellow), Yy (yellow) and yy (green). Phenotype is the observable characteristics of an individual.
