Solution

The correct option is A

Hypothalamus

Hypothalamus is the basal part of diencephalon (part of forebrain) and consists of several masses of neurosecretory cells called hypothalamic nuclei. Neurons of the hypothalamic nuclei control the activity of pituitary gland. The hypothalamus is connected to the anterior lobe of pituitary by hypophyseal portal vessels. The hypothalamic nuclei or neurosecretory cells secrete several hormones called neurohormones that reach the anterior pituitary by hypophyseal portal vessels. These hormones regulate the activity of pituitary hormones.
