Question

Is the upthrust, more than, equal to, or less than the weight of the body when the body just floats in a liquid

Open in App
Solution

  1. When a body is wholly or partially immersed in a fluid, it experiences an upward thrust called “buoyant force”.
  2. The upward thrust acts opposite to the direction of the weight of the body.
  3. If the weight of the body is equal to the upward thrust, the body just floats in a liquid.

Hence, upthrust is equal to the weight of the body when a body just floats in a liquid.
