Is there any formula for learning the periodic table rather than just memorising it?

There aren't particularly any formulas for remembering the periodic table as such.
Try devising your own ways of memorising it. For instance, it will be lot easier if you take each of the periods and making short forms by using the first one or two letters of each element and then remembering the short forms as such in the form of a rhyme or something easy to remember.
