Question

Is virus a microorganism?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

To qualify as a microbe, the size of an organism must be microscopic in nature and they must be a living entity.
Viruses are not living outside any living entity and only show some of the characteristics of a living organism when they come in contact with any living body. Hence, as an individual unit outside a living body they are non-living and therefore not categorised as a microbe.
