Is walking good for coronary heart disease?

Open in App
Solution

Coronary heart disease:

  1. It is a diseased heart condition that develops when the coronary arteries fail to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the heart.
  2. Cholesterol accumulates on the artery walls and creates plaques that lead to the narrowing of arteries and reduce blood flow.
  3. The buildup of cholesterol and inflammatory products in the arteries is referred to as atherosclerosis.
  4. It can lead to a heart attack if the plaque develops into a blood clot and can even completely obstruct the blood supply to the heart.
  5. Physical activity has the ability to prevent and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and cancers.
  6. Regular physical activities such as walking have been shown to reduce cholesterol levels, and blood pressure and boost overall energy.
  7. People that participated in moderate physical activity reported a 14% lower risk of developing coronary heart disease.
